After serving 10 years, the Governor of Mississippi granted clemency, and Joe was released. He went from prison to pastor. Joe has resided in the southern part of the United States for approximately 35 years. He worked as Director of Beginning Again In Christ, a prison and aftercare ministry in Brandon, Mississippi and Assistant Pastor of Christ Our Comfort Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Joe is currently Senior Pastor of Door of Hope Church in Tallahassee, Florida. He has served in this capacity since 2007.
Joe is a graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi, and he attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Mississippi. He is married to Beverlyn Lewis Elliott, and they have three adult children, Brittany, Jeremiah, and Joshua.
